Hello Folks,
You can call me Andrew. Great to meet you all. I'm pumped to be here in Anchorage for Science Alaska with you and this really cool group of teachers for these short two weeks of fun and discovery.
Like many of you I am not originally from Alaska. I was born and raised in a hidden little corner of the Midwest on a farm in Northeastern Wisconsin. Although I will admit I'm a farm boy at heart and I love to get muddy at times, I also enjoyed the city and would escape to Chicago whenever I could.
I moved to Alaska 4 years ago to a Yupik village just south of Nome. After one year I moved to Anchorage and have been here since. I love adventure (expected and unexpected) and expanding my horizons at every turn. Although I am a teacher, I consider myself a lifelong learner in and out of the classroom. I enjoy learning from others just as much as I enjoy teaching.
I use much of my free time to play music, ski, hike, hunt, fish, boat, kayak, climb, read, create, and start ridiculous projects that I may or may not finish.
I hope you are as excited as I am to be here, weve got a lot to do and so precious little time to do it. Lets make it happen, Write and Science Alaska 2011!
You and Ms Wiack are really nice and awesome. You guys are cool to hang out with and you guys are pretty laid back THANKS!!!!
